Plus précisément, ce sont deux des cinq épisodes prévus qui débarqueront. Baptisés “Do Not Go Gentle” et “Luminance Fugue”. Ces deux histoires nous permettent de vivre une expérience oscillant entre survie et narration pour une durée de jeu allant normalement de 6 à 10 heures. Les épisode 3 à 5 suivront en fin d'année 2017 et début d'année 2018. Yonder The Cloud Catcher Chronicles is a game that synthesises pure pleasantness from a well-trodden set of mechanics. From a colourful open world that’s as rounded as a pair of safety scissors, to its unique cast of animal pals, everything is thoroughly lovely. The only hint of darkness comes from an encroaching purple fog known locally as murk’ and, ultimately, the reason for that murk’s existence revealed at the narrative climax, so I’ll not spoil that. There’s no cynicism. No secret evils harboured by the friendly villagers. Even the murk itself doesn’t seem to be causing that many problems in the grand scheme of things although, admittedly, it is said to be spreading. Your job in Yonder The Cloud Catcher Chronicles is really just to nudge what’s already a near island paradise into a full time utopia. Just ignore the howling vortex, it’s fine. Granted, you do start the game in a shipwreck. It’s a an extremely gentle shipwreck though. Nobody besides the ship gets hurt, and within about five minutes your male or female protagonist there’s a straightforward character creator is running about in lush, green grass beneath soft sunshine. Yonder is a fine looking game. Chubby, bison-like creatures called Groffles waddle around its plains, while some of the dwellings could pass for delicious cakes. Chocolate piping around the windows, marzipan for walls, and red licorice roofs. Snow-swept mountains, dusty deserts, and humid forests are among eight different environments; each one styled in the same charming manner. It doesn’t take a long time to hoof it from one end of the island to the other when I tested, it was about five minutes, but that trip will always include plenty of visual variety. This town cannot get enough of bunting. There isn’t really a fast travel system in Yonder besides a couple of portal-type shortcuts to specific points, so the island’s compact nature isn’t too claustrophobic. It also employs a few geographical tricks things like the tactical placement of sheer cliff faces to stop players taking a direct route everywhere. This mostly adds to the sense of exploration, but it does feel a bit artificial around the game’s mountainous region, where it pushes you up certain defined pathways. Relative ease of movement around the world is important, because Yonder will send you all over the place. Either as part of the main 4-5 hour narrative quest-line, or in search of resources for tasks of your own undertaking. Those tasks boil down to either crafting things, or looking after a farm or two for which you also need to craft things like animal pens and fodder troughs. Crafting recipes are obtained from one of the seven different professions in the game. If you join the chefs, you’ll get a bunch of food types to make; if you join the constructors, it’s arch-ways and structures. There’s no limit on how many guilds you can be in at once, and getting in usually involves a quest to gather up relevant resources. That’s achieved by following the Officially Codified Minecraft Methodology of Resource Acquisition, or … OCMMRA. That acronym needs a rethink. Anyway, you know the procedure. Use an axe to chop trees for wood, pluck vines to make twine. All that stuff. Chop chop, haven’t got all day. Yonder’s persistent problem is that all of this is very guided and falls within quite rigid parameters. You can build bridges to ease your travel to different parts of the land, but only in pre-designated spots. There’s a little bit of freedom when placing buildings on your farm, but the building placement doesn’t actually seem to matter and there are a pretty limited set of structures in any case. It includes a lot of popular features in its tranquil world – crafting, farm management with cute animals, fishing – but on a level that feels relatively superficial. After finishing up the main story players are invited to stick around and continue their activities in the world. Besides luring more adorable animals to the pens of perpetual petting a noble goal, it’s true, the remaining actions are largely a closed crafting loop. The economy in Yonder is based on bartering there is an Old Kingdom’ currency, but the islanders appear to have transcended beyond mere finance, so everything you make, or pilfer from the land, can be exchanged for more materials. And that’s just about it. You can make more things to swap for more things, to potentially create more things, for the purpose of … swapping them for even more things. Mastery’ in each of Yonder’s professions is achieved by crafting large amounts of goods, which rather betrays the fact that the game feels crafting in and of itself is a desirable goal. There’s really no shortage of crafting. Outside of the crafting, Yonder exhibits one or two moments where using observation and experimentation out in its open world yields useful or just enjoyable results. There a few unguided environmental puzzles that generally reward the player with another Sprite; necessary for fighting back the murk. It’s also rewarding to figure out how the quick-travel portals are linked to the game’s day-night cycle. These instances of organic’ interactivity with the world are all quite smart, but there aren’t enough to make an extended stay beyond the end credits feel worthwhile. Hidden, collectible cats, cute as they are, just aren’t enough. Developers Prideful Sloth have committed themselves to a decent PC version, featuring a reasonable spread of graphics options shadow quality slider, ambient occlusion settings, and so on. The keyboard and mouse options are pretty well implemented too. My main complaint would be a lack of hotkeys, meaning players have to laboriously scroll through their equipment options a problem on the gamepad too, but the keyboard has a solution that’s not being employed. Keybindings are custom too, so you can alter the controls. A pair of camera sensitivity sliders are helpful as well. Here’s a gallery overview of the settings click for larger. Yonder’s world is an impressive and stylish creation. The variety of environments squeezed into its compact island make for an enjoyable, exploratory romp for as long as that novelty keeps its hold. But once the main 4-5 hour quest is done, you’ve seen the extent of what the game has to offer. That wouldn’t automatically be a problem, except the crafting and farm ownership aspects are too superficial to act as a compelling reason to return. As a result, this is a short and undeniably sweet title which lacks the depth of its contemporaries.

Synopsis Le jeu débute à part la personnalisation de votre personnage se résumant au sexe et la couleur des cheveux en vous retrouvant dans un bateau pris en pleine tempête et forcément vous allez faire naufrage. On se retrouve donc sur l’île de Géméa où de petits esprits tout mignons vont vous demander sinon ce n’est pas drôle et le jeu serait déjà fini à attendre les secours de sauver l’île d’une lumière violette qui emprisonne certaines régions. Cela reste la mission principale, mais je dois avouer qu’au bout d’une heure je n’y pensais plus. L’exploration et le cumul de missions annexes m’ont bien occupées. Un vrai jeu d’exploration Une fois la mission de sauver l’île est acceptée, je m’équipe de mon épée et de mon bouclier et sus à l’ennemi !!!! Pas d’épée ? Ni de bouclier ? Car, oui dans Yonder the cloud catcher chronicles vous ne serez équipé que de vos outils et de votre boussole magique très pratique pour vous remettre sur le bon chemin au cours d’une mission pour partir à l’aventure. On a ici un jeu où il y a pas de méchant. Les seuls personnages que vous allez rencontrer sont les esprits, des animaux et les habitants qui vous demanderont de l’aide pour différentes tâches. C’est purement de l’exploration ou l’objectif reste de supprimer le brouillard mauve. Ce jeu est vraiment fait pour les curieux, ceux qui ne veulent pas passer des heures à se battre contre un méchant, ceux qui aiment grimper sur une montagne pour regarder le travail des développeurs. Vous ne pouvez pas mourir dans ce jeu. Pas de fin du game. La seule fin sera quand vous aurez supprimé tous les brouillards violets et que les esprits vont vous remercier. On peut vraiment prendre ce jeu comme une approche totale d’un jeu open-world pour ceux qui n’en ont jamais fait. C’est parfait pour apprendre. De plus grâce à la boussole on ne peut pas se perdre. Gameplay et graphismes C’est sur ce n’est pas une claque visuelle, mais Yonder the cloud catcher chronicles est un jeu simple et il est tout mignon dans ses décors et dans ses personnages. C’est très coloré et baigné de soleil. Les animations sont propres et pour un jeu qui est fait pour ne pas se prendre la tête c’est parfait. Moi tant que cela ne clignote pas, ça ne saccade pas et que les décors apparaissent pas en avançant pour ce type de jeu ça me va. C’est donc une réussite pour un jeu open-world. Aucun temps de chargement. Le gameplay est simple et basique dédicace à Gohan fan de Orelsan une simple touche vous montre les tâches à faire. Très pratique surtout quand vous cumulez plus d’une vingtaine de missions. Car oui à explorer et à parler avec les habitants de l’île vous allez très vite cumuler des missions annexes qui n’ont pas de durer dans le temps donc c’est top et vous les faites quand vous le désirez. L’écran affiche toujours l’état de votre quête en cours et pas besoin de faire pause pour ça. Et si vous êtes perdu, la boussole vous aidera avec son faisceau lumineux. Une carte est également présente pour vous repérer, dommage qu’on ne puisse pas y mettre de marqueur, mais un screenshot cadeau de l’astuce et un marquage règle ce soucis. Pas pratique mais bon. Conclusion J’ai été conquis clairement par Yonder the cloud catcher chronicles, c’est le premier jeu que je fais jeu d’aventure je parle ou je me bat contre aucun ennemi. On se balade et on aide les gens. On coupe des arbres on en plantes, on ramène des ressources on découvre… Bref un pur jeu d’exploration avec des PNJ qui vous feront sourire comme cette femme à barbe m’a fait penser à Gohan avec ses 4 poils au menton ou l’épouvantail. C’est un jeu qui se prend pas au sérieux et qui est là pour vous faire une belle balade sur Géméa et pour le coup c’est totalement réussi.

While it may be a rare occurrence for some, I think this fact is true for everyone, as a game you love now is something you may have been indifferent about or even hated under different circumstances and vice-versa. Yonder The Cloud Catcher Chronicles is one such game for me. Had I played it a few years ago, I may have brushed it off as boring and childish, but as we grow and evolve as people so do our tastes. As I’ve grown older I’ve found my appreciation for more laid back, “casual” experiences has greatly increased and Yonder certainly falls into that category. While it’s always important to read the entirety of a review and not just use the final score, with a game of this nature it is imperative. Yonder The Cloud Catcher Chronicles opens with a simple character creator that basically allows you to choose your character’s gender and body type. Soon after, your nameless character finds themselves on a boat traveling towards the land of Gemea to uncover the secrets of their past, but along the way the waters get rough and they end up shipwrecked. They are then visited by a mysterious creature that informs them that Gemea has been enshrouded by an ominous cloud called murk. Now they must not only learn about their past, but also help free Gemea from the blight that has overtaken it. Yonder is a game all about adventure and exploration. There is no combat to engage in, no experience to earn, no attributes to enhance, and no skill trees to develop. It’s all about discovery and helping to return Gemea back to the paradise it once was. In order to do this and clear away the murk, you’ll have to search out and find small creatures known as sprites, as they can be used to help dispatch this evil fog. Sprites can be acquired by completing quests, solving simple puzzles, or just by finding them hiding out in the world and you’ll need to recruit as many as you can because each area of murk will require you to have a specific number of sprites to clear. Sprites are only able to clear out smaller areas of murk around Gemea, so your character will need to find a more effective method to free the entire world. This is where the Cloud Catcher comes into play. Your main goal in Yonder is to repair this device that can be used to completely wipe out the murk that the sprites cannot. Completing this task is surprisingly simple and if you’re just running through this main questline you could probably complete the game in just a few short hours. I was honestly surprised with how little there was to do as far as the main story beats go, but Yonder definitely makes up for it other ways. While your main goal is to clear away the murk, there are a plethora of other things to do in Yonder. You’ll be able to build farms that will allow you to grow crops and trees, as well as adopt a variety of animals that you can find around Gemea. There are also tons of sidequests that you can pick up from the people you meet in the numerous towns you’ll visit. There are a number of resources available to gather by chopping down trees, breaking apart rocks, picking flowers, fishing, and more. Thankfully all of those resources will go to good use as you can join a handful of guilds which will enable you to build and create a number of items, ranging from buildings and decorations for your farm to clothing and food. If you’re looking for things to keep you busy in Gemea, there is certainly no shortage of things to do. Even with all of the things to do, perhaps the most fun I had during my time with Yonder was when I was venturing off the beaten path and exploring every nook and cranny of Gemea. The map you’ll have access to is surprisingly large and the sheer number of places to explore caught me a bit off guard at first. If you’re the type of person that enjoys finding secrets, Yonder probably won’t disappoint, as there are tons of things out in the world to find ranging from treasure chests to hidden coves and much more I won’t spoil. What made exploration particularly exciting for me though is just how beautiful this world could be at times. On the surface, it may look like a simple game in terms of graphics, but there were plenty of times I found myself enjoying the view as much as anything else. Standing on a cliff overlooking the ocean while the sun set in the distance was a sight to behold. The ambient noise of birds, wind, rain, water crashing, and other environmental sounds also added much to the experience as Gemea truly felt like a living, breathing world. While there is plenty to gush about in Yonder, it isn’t without a few issues and the most significant is the way it handles fast travel. Once I had explored everything I wanted to and was just trying to finish up quests as the game was winding down, fast travel became something that I was in desperate need of. Unfortunately, there are only seven or eight spots in the game that allow you to do this. These are known as Sage Stones and once you’ve opened one by completing a simple quest you can enter it and exit from any of the others that you have unlocked. The problem is that even when using this method of travel you still have to travel on foot great distances to reach most of your destinations as most of the stones are tucked away in areas that aren’t close to any kind of point of interest. I feel like having a way to travel between your farms or each town you’ve discovered would have been far more convenient. Luckily, this only became an issue in the last couple of hours when I had seen all I wanted to. Another small issue was with the way the game handles inventory. Your character is outfitted with a backpack, and while its appearance can change, I never found a way to increase the capacity. In a game where collecting items is all too important, needing to micromanage the inventory got quite cumbersome at times. Each farm you build does contain a shared inventory box with what seemed to be unlimited space that allows you to have access to all of your stored items no matter which farm you are on, but with the travel distances between them and the aforementioned fast travel system, getting to one was usually a pain. On a related note, I wasn’t a fan of the way currency was handled. It is impossible to sell off your excess items and have a surplus of cash because all transactions in the game are done strictly by trade only. This led to a few different problems as sometimes I would have a backpack full of cheap stuff and wouldn’t be able to buy what I wanted, which led to trekking back to a storage box or hoping I could craft something of value that I wouldn’t need later. Other times I would have to sell off something worth more than the items I wanted because I didn’t want to make that long trek to a box. For a game with such a laid back feel, all of this tedious micromanagement felt completely out of place. I’ve said this about plenty of other games in the past, but I feel like with Yonder The Cloud Catcher Chronicles, it’s more important than ever; this game will not be for everyone. The lack of combat and instant gratification from things like XP will certainly be a turn off for some, but if you’re okay with exploring the simplistic beauty of Gemea and uncovering its numerous secrets, it is well worth your time.

Alors que notre petit personnage fait route vers cette île, un étrange brouillard se lève d'un coup, une tempête éclate et la foudre s'abat sur le navire, le faisant sombrer. Il se réveille dans un étrange monde en face d’Aaerie, un esprit protecteur qui lui confie la tâche de nettoyer » l’île des ténèbres. C’est alors que nous sommes renvoyés dans le monde réel », sur Géméa, afin d’accomplir notre tâche. Jeu et gameplay Le jeu nous met donc aux commandes d'un petit personnage tout mignon qui parcourt l'île. Mais à quoi cela sert de supprimer les ténèbres et de libérer » ces zones ? Et bien, c’est non seulement pour vous aider, mais aussi pour aider les habitants ! En effet, durant vos aventures, vous allez tomber sur de nombreux villages, fermes ou camps dans lesquels vivent et travaillent de nombreux personnages. Ils ont sacrément galéré durant de nombreuses années à cause des ténèbres et sont ravis de vous voir arriver pour vous donner des tas de missions ! Les quêtes que vous donneront les PNJ sont diverses et variées. Récupérer et ramener des ressources spécifiques, faire des échanges, retrouver un trésor, explorer une zone. Ces quêtes sont également un bon moyen de récupérer des plans, permettant de confectionner de nombreux objets. Mais ce n’est pas tout car, en dehors de ça, vous pouvez mener votre petite vie tranquille de fermier ! En effet, assez rapidement dans le jeu, on a accès à une ferme. Via cette dernière, on peut s’occuper d’animaux, récolter des ressources... L’intérêt premier de la ferme est de s’occuper de vos animaux chéris ! C’est à vous de choisir lesquelles vous voulez, chacun vous donnant des objets différents laits, fourrures, etc.. Bien entendu, il vous faudra aller capturer ces chéris et les ramener jusqu’à la ferme. Sans oublier qu’il faudra vous en occuper avec tendresse et amour ! En dehors de tout ça, il vous faudra parcourir le monde pour le découvrir et déceler les secrets dont il regorge, mais aussi récolter d’autres éléments, tels que la pierre, le bois, des plantes et même pêcher. Pour cela, on possède de très nombreux outils canne à pêche, faucille, pioche, hache, etc. Tous ces éléments vous permettront de faire du troc avec les PNJ, mais aussi de réparer » le monde, comme des ponts par exemple, permettant d’accéder à des zones autrement inaccessibles. Vous l’aurez compris, pour faire avancer l’histoire, vous devrez avancer les quêtes principales, mais celles-ci n’ont de principales que le nom dans les faits, toutes les quêtes sont basées sur un principe de service à rendre. Bien souvent donc, vous allez devoir collecter des matériaux nécessaires, confectionner un objet, et le livrer. Collecter cinq branches d’arbre pour réparer une clôture, ramasser dix pierres pour construire un pilier et réparer un pont… Certaines quêtes viennent néanmoins casser cette routine de mécaniques, comme celle du jeu de piste pour retrouver des vaches égarées dans la montagne, mais globalement, toutes ces quêtes ne seraient que des missions secondaires dans bon nombre de jeux. Les forêts, les plaines, les montagnes, les marais et les déserts défilent au cours d’un cycle jour/nuit et même d’un cycle de saisons aux effets réussis, agrémentés çà et là d’animaux apprivoisables, leur apparition dépend de l’endroit et du moment de l’année et de villages où des habitants vous donneront des quêtes, feront du commerce avec vous et vous proposeront de rejoindre leur guilde de métier. La direction artistique du titre est particulièrement réussie, notamment au coucher du soleil et lorsque la nuit est tombée, théâtre idéal pour admirer les constellations dans le ciel ; constellations que vous aurez vous-même débloquées en tombant sur des collectibles particuliers. Trouvables la plupart du temps dans des coffres, ils sont pour la grande majorité d’entre eux purement cosmétiques teintures de cheveux, lunettes, habits… mais certains ont une importance toute particulière les petits esprits à dénicher dans des lieux insolites comme les Korogus de Zelda, parfois en résolvant une énigme environnementale, serviront à dissiper les brumes maléfiques qui bloquent votre chemin et vous empêchent d’accéder à toutes les zones du jeu. Il faudra ainsi prendre le temps de bien fouiller les environnements que vous traversez, car plus vous vous aventurerez loin, plus le nombre d’esprits nécessaires à la dissipation des brumes sera important. Ce qui peut occasionner une certaine frustration, d’ailleurs, lorsque vous tentez d’accéder à un endroit éloigné pour une quête et que vous vous rendez compte que vous n’avez pas le nombre nécessaire au déblocage de la zone, d’autant plus que les déplacements rapides/téléportations sont très limitées dans le jeu. Une grande partie des mécaniques du titre est axée autour de la confection d’objets, ou craft, pour aller plus vite. Les objets ont tous une valeur, et pour obtenir ceux que vous souhaitez, vous allez devoir vous séparer d’un ensemble d’objets de même valeur. Oubliez alors la revente d’habits hors de prix pour faire de l’argent vous allez devoir les garder dans votre inventaire et les échanger au moment opportun. Ceci étant dit, revenons à nous moutons, ou plutôt à nos fabbits, concernant le craft. Après cette première étape de collecte qui peut être pénible, la deuxième étape l’est tout autant la conception d’objets à proprement parler. Certaines fois, vous aurez les recettes, et d’autres fois, il vous faudra rentrer dans une guilde pour acquérir ce savoir ; savoir qui ne sera distillé intégralement qu’à ceux atteignant le plus haut rang dans lesdites guildes. Si l’idée est bonne, la réalisation l’est moins avec missions rébarbatives et très onéreuses pour accéder à la classe suivante dans la guilde construisez X abreuvoirs, construisez Y mangeoires, demandant à chaque fois beaucoup de ressources dont certaines ne pouvant qu’être achetées. Pour palier le manque de ressources financières, les développeurs ont pensé là aussi à une mécanique sympathique sur le fond avec la gestion de fermes. Lorsqu’une ferme est rénovée, vous pouvez y faire venir des animaux que vous aurez apprivoisés en leur donnant un met particulier et en leur construisant un abri, une mangeoire et un abreuvoir. Mais en dehors de ces tâches d’aménagement, vous ne retournerez aux fermes que pour deux choses, à savoir collecter les produits de la ferme et stocker le surplus de votre inventaire dans des énormes coffres. Dommage, car il y avait matière à faire quelque chose de plus poussé. Enfin, quelques mots sur la partie technique du titre sur Nintendo Switch. En mode salon, le jeu est très joli malgré quelques sauts de framerate. En portable, en revanche, même s’il reste totalement jouable, le jeu souffre d’une baisse flagrante de résolution, générant un effet de flou, accompagné de chutes de framerate là encore. There’s no release date announced just yet, but developer Prideful Sloth promises that the game is coming soon’. The price has been set to $ digitally and $ on retail. The Switch version of the game will be largely identical to the PC and PS4 versions, but will come with a Photo Mode. You can now take pictures of the land of Gemea and share them with your friends. This feature with debut’ on the Switch, so it seems safe to say that it will arrive on other versions of the game later. There’s also a new trailer out, to celebrate the Switch announcement. Sorti en juillet 2017 sur Steam et PlayStation 4, Yonder The Cloud Chronicles est un jeu d’aventure qui propose d’incarner un personnage qui sera catapulté sur l’île de Géméa, un endroit majestueux avec une faune variée qui change en fonction des saisons. L’objectif sera de trouver une solution pour dissiper le terrible miasme qui menace l’île et ainsi devenir le héros de la région. Le héros devra également fabriquer des objets précis pour résoudre bon nombre d’énigmes et repousser toute menace.
